Belgian cobbles

Inspired by Rhino's tales of Belgium, this is a quick post of some racing photos 'borrowed' from some random flickr photographers... (mainly from the 2009 Tour of Flanders).
The cobblestones just look amazing, and it would be great to one day make it over to Europe to see them "up-close-and-personal" (as a soigneur, not as a rider!!!).

Lots of local 'brisbanites' leave for overseas this week - and we wish them all the best!...
Kirsty Broun is heading off to the US and then to Europe for some racing; and some of the Budget Forklifts team (Michael, Jack and 2 others) are off to the land of cobbles as well.

Stay upright and enjoy yourselves!

Ipswich kermesse

It might not be Belgium, and I don't think I saw any cobbles, but there were definitely some hills out past Ipswich!
What a cool race!... and my first "win" ever...
Emily Roper (U17) actually won it (and she rode so well all race) - but I can at least say I was the first B woman over the line. :)
Bring on some more hills!

It's about the climb

It's not about how fast you get there,
it's not about what is waiting on the other side,
there is always going to be another mountain,
so take some time to realise it's actually all about the climb itself.

(adapted from that new Miley Cyrus song... I actually don't like the song but the lyrics are quite poignant!)
